Holiday Plaza Hotel is a 129 roomed 3 star hotel on Ramos St in uptown Cebu City. It has 8 floors with 2 elevators and wheelchair access. The hotel offers room service and it also has a business centre.

Rooms come with air-conditioning, cable TV, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities and bathtub/shower in bathroom. Most room rates include a free buffet breakfast, but check this when making reservation.

The location is pretty good as it’s only a short walk to Fuente Osmeña Circle a popular place that has a couple of small shopping malls (fast food, currency exchange, food court, department store, supermarket, a few speciality stores, a branch of Cebu Pacific and cafes), other fast food restaurants, a few places to buy cheap pirated Dvds, Larsian BBQ so pretty much everything. Just behind Osmeña Circle are some of Cebu’s hospitals as well. Ramos St is pretty busy and easy to catch a taxi from. It’s only 10-15 minute taxi ride to the main malls in Cebu as well (Ayala and SM). Ramos St. is a main jeepney route around Cebu. If you’re looking for some nightlife in Cebu, Mango Square is a short walk from Holiday Plaza. Here you can find a good number of discos and bars and it’s a pretty popular and well known spot in Cebu City.

For accommodation during Cebu’s Sinulog this is in a fantastic location as it’s only metres away from the main parade. If you book online such as Agoda make sure to put a minimum 3 nights and book as early as possible.

If you catch a white taxi from Cebu Airport to the Holiday Plaza, it should cost you around 250 PHP depending on traffic. Allow for around 30-40 minutes, again depending on traffic conditions.

For parking, the hotel has limited number of parking spots. It has a ballroom to accommodate up to 800 people. Wi-Fi is free.

My Review of the Holiday Plaza Cebu

The biggest issue with the hotel is its age. For its price, the rooms are a reasonable size. They are pretty well maintained and clean. It’s just they look tired and old, and are crying out for a desperate renovation, in fact the whole hotel could do with one. The rooms still have old style TV’s, bathrooms look dated. The rooms facing the street did have a bit of street noise. The best days of the Holiday Plaza are definitely behind it. The staff are good, always helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was ok with a decent selection of dishes. The highlight though has to be Sinugba Bai, their rooftop restaurant which is open from 6pm – 12 midnight. Choose from a nice selection of meat and seafood (see video below) then sit back in one of the open air cottages and enjoy the wonderful views of Cebu City while they cook the food. The BBQ food is real tasty! Overall the hotel is OK and is a good location. Also see my video below. I give the Holiday Plaza a rating of AVERAGE.
