Santiago Bay Resort Video review.

Santiago Bay Resort sits on a hilltop overlooking Santiago Bay with arguably has one of the best views on the Camotes Islands. It’s next door to the smaller Bellavistamare. The resort has 51 rooms starting from the Standard Room (around 1000 PHP a night) which they have 6 non air-conditioned and 7 air- conditioned rooms in this type. The Deluxe Room is the most common room and these are the room types you can actually book online with sites like Agoda. As I have said in the video, I find this way the most convenient to pay as you can do it pre arrival. Santiago Bay Resort doesn’t have credit card facilities it’s the easiest way to book. Otherwise you will need to pay by cash. Their family Villa is the most expensive (around 6000 PHP when I stayed) and can accommodate up to 5 people (or 6 for extra charge). For the best views their Bayview Rooms are the ones to go with, they have an uninterrupted view of Santiago Bay from the balcony (see video). Overall the rooms are pretty simple and basic. The rooms with TV are only local channels; most rooms have no hot water. Some of the more expensive ones have a mini bar.

Santiago Bay Resort has two infinity swimming pools, both having great views. The bay has a beautiful beach that you can walk down from the resort. The waters here are generally pretty calm, smooth and even at high tide it is still pretty shallow.  It’s a pretty popular public beach with not only tourists but locals alike. Here you can also find a number of affordable restaurants on the beach which if you want to save money, offer better value than at the resort. You can see the video for more details. There are also a number of smaller resorts dotted along the beach. Santiago Bay Resort is by far the biggest resort in this area.

For water sports the Santiago Bay offers things like Jet Ski and banana boat rides.  WiFi is available in the restaurant but it isn’t the best. But this is expected on the Camotes as generally coverage is not great.

The restaurant food is ok. Service is a bit slow, but I have found this pretty common with the resorts in the Camotes.  I’m on holidays so for me it’s not really an issue.  Sit back, relax and enjoy the view!

Getting to Santiago Bay Resort

From the pier at Consuelo in the Camotes there are plenty of motorbike and multi cabs that will take you to the resort. I used a motorbike and was charged 50 PHP.

My Review of Santiago Bay Resort Camotes

For me this resort is not too bad, I think it was the first resort I stayed at when I first came to the Camotes many years ago. The rooms haven’t changed much since then. The major difference is the swimming pool.  When I first came they didn’t have any swimming pools. Then they added the first one and a couple years ago added the 2nd pool.  The best thing of the resort has to be the magnificent views it offers. Santiago Bay is just a beautiful piece of paradise and when the weather is good I can’t think of a better place on the island to sit back and admire the scenery.  It may not be the best resort on the island (I think Magodlong Paradise Resort is nicer…. but without the amazing views).  But I think this is a reasonable place to stay and I rate it as ABOVE AVERAGE.
