Video Review of the Coral Blue Oriental Beach Villas and Suites in Bantayan Island

The Coral Blue Oriental Beach Villas and Suites (originally known as The Bamboo Oriental) is a 3 ½ star resort on Bantayan Island. Located right on the beach allowing for some amazing views.  The resort has 6 bamboo built rooms giving that native feel. The suite and villas each have air conditioning and fan, cable TV, mini bar and safe. The bathrooms come with hot and cold showers. The Villas have two separate bedrooms.

The resort has its own restaurant that serves both international and local cuisines. Free Wi-Fi is available. There is laundry and massage service and currency exchange are also offered. Oh and there is a pool table for those who like play billiards.

Begin your stay with a refreshing welcome drink as you take in the amazing view from this resort.  The Resort’s restaurant White Sands is nice little place to eat at in Bantayan. It’s been around for years, even before the villas were built. The food here is pretty decent, although a little on the pricer side of things, but nothing outrageous. If the weather is good, sit outside by the beach and enjoy the magnificent views. If you want to eat out it’s easy enough to catch a tricycle into Sta. Fe town, it will cost around 20 PHP. It’s really close enough that you can even walk.  For breakfast you have the choice of American, Filipino and land lovers. When I booked via Agoda, the room came with breakfast (please check conditions at booking as they may change). The breakfast was good enough -nothing fancy.

Location wise, it’s only a short tricycle ride away from the pier as well as a few minutes away from Sta Fe town, a small sleepy town with a number of restaurants and bars. It’s a fairly handy location, but having said that most of the resorts in Bantayan are located around this area so pretty much were you stay here, it’s close to everything.

My Review of the Coral Blue Oriental Beach Villas and Suites Bantayan

This was the 2nd time I stayed at the Coral Blue Oriental.  Back when the welcoming Robert used to manage the place.  I did notice a little bit of wear and tear showing since my original visit, but nothing too concerning.  The rooms are decent enough and offer brilliant views of the ocean from the balcony (the suite room anyhow – I believe the standard room does not offer these views). The Suite Rooms are a nice size, with a queen bed, air conditioning, cable TV, Asian inspired furniture and deco, safe and mini bar. The bathroom have hot/cold water rain showers. The size of the bathroom is impressive.

This side of Bantayan Island gets the dry monsoon winds, so during the summer months the winds can tend to blow up some seaweed onshore, although nothing disastrous. See video for more details. While on the other side of the island (where Budyong Resort is located) the waters are calm.

Overall it is a nice enough resort to stay at, although I wasn’t quite as impressed as my first visit, but only for the minor reasons mentioned previously. The staff are both friendly and helpful, always making sure your needed are provided for.  It’s still a place I would recommend. If you are looking for a little more elegant accommodation on the island (by Bantayan standards anyhow) it is well worth considering.  A great place to spend your holiday at if you like being by the beach.

Overall I would rate the Coral Blue Oriental Above Average.

Bantayan Island Tourist Attractions

If you want ideas on what to do in Bantayan Island, please visit here. For me, Bantayan is my favourite island in Cebu. To get there from Cebu it will take a good 4-5 hours (including the ferry ride), depending on traffic and whether you take a taxi or bus up to the port of Hagnaya. Bantayan is more for the tourist who just wants to laze along the beach all day and they have some amazing looking beaches (especially during the dry season which is around March/April when the waters look gorgeous – just view my videos). Worth visiting is the magnificent Paradise Beach, most touts will tell you that you need to get there by boat, but it can be reached by bike, although it is bit difficult to find as there is no signage. Another place worth a day trip is the brilliant Virgin Island, it’s one of the prettiest places in the area. Again see my videos here. Kota Park is also with a visit, especially to see the great sunsets.
